Hello!
Good Morning friends from Yellow Cap Cod! What a gorgeous tour right? Loved everything about it!
For those of you who are new around here, my name is Destiny and I’m the blogger behind Just Destiny!I’m happy to be back again this year with the Holiday Housewalk 2016. Thank you so much to Jennifer at Jennifer Rizzo for throwing such a fabulous tour. You guys have no idea how many details go on behind the scenes. The emails, coordination, all of that she handles and we are so thankful! You will also see some goodies from our sponsor Wayfair throughout the post! I will tag and source them for you and you will also have the opportunity to shop the post at the very end of the tour! Then of course on to the next house Shades of Blue Interiors!
Christmas Tartan Home Tour
This year things are simple! We JUST moved into our house 2 months ago so all the rooms aren’t ready for tours BUT I did manage to put up our dream tree, the family room and deck the kitchen a bit. I hope you find a little bit of inspiration somewhere!! You can find last years tour here.
Walking into our home you welcomed by a view our of backyard and a big open family room and kitchen. Off to the right is a small entry way that connects to our stairs.
I kept things festive by adding garland to the stairs using command clips and using that same garland to dress up our entry table!
Just around the corneris our stairs. HO HO HO in marquee letters going up is one of our favorites this year! In our last house our stairs were hidden from the rest of the house, so this is was so fun to do! You can get the letters from Michaels this year! Looking to do something similar in your home? These marquee letters are perfect and are a great price!
Our Dream Tree is our secondstop! Right when you walk in off to the left is our living and dining room combo. I built a faux fireplace surround ( we plan on putting an electric insert into it) for our stockings.
I was loving the colorred this year so I was really excited to add some to our home! The plaid is the perfect way to tie in my style too. Flocks, picks and ornaments are what I use every year to trim our tree. This year was no different!

Family Room
Christmas in our home happens right here in this room. Family movie nights, reading the Christmas story, cozy blankets, relaxing and of course Christmas morning all will be here. It will be our first Christmas in this house so I’m excited to fill these walls with so many new memories.
Decking the halls this year, I added garlands, pillows, and other small touches of Christmas around the room.
Our tree is simple. Just a few ornaments and a little lift added by this basket that my mom thrifted years ago. Even my husband asked if I was going to decorate it a little more. Maybe…but maybe not…haha! The holidays can get so busy. Meeting everyone’s expectations are so hard so do what you can and enjoy the true meaning of Christmas with your family!
Kitchen
Onto the kitchen. I added touches of red to each corner of the room. Small bows on the tops of our lights and small wreaths on the back of our chairs.
I used a lot of greenery to liven things up. I love the lambs ear and berry combo too!
I also set up a festive baking center. Using some new bowls and cake stands from Wayfair, I made a space to inspire me to get my bake on!
Banana bread was first on the list:0)
These pretty recycled glass vases have been floating around the house the last few weeks. After I used them for Thanksgiving I knew I wanted them to stay a little longer. I put some lambs ear and berries picks in them for some Christmas cheer!
Thank you so much for stopping by! Below you can shop some of the items in this post and make your way to the next stop. Hope you enjoyed our home and Merry Christmas to your family from ours!
Your next stop will be Rachel from Shades of Blue Interiors!
